After making the thrift store rounds with my mother-in-law, it turns out she liked JLC Wearhouse the least while I liked it the most. If you're looking for three dollar items like at the Goodwill, you're in the wrong place here, but if you are okay with paying a few extra dollars for a better selection, a much nicer store and actual sales clerks that will help you out, it's fantastic.
I avoided the front of the store where items were priced at 20 dollars and up and went to the back, where there were plenty of designer items in great condition for 6 to 10 dollars. Picking out an armful of viable options to try on took only 15 minutes, while that would have taken hours at the Goodwill.
For shoppers who really need the low Goodwill prices, there are plenty of alternatives in Charlotte like Bargain Hunters on Albemarle Rd., but otherwise: stop griping about the prices and consider that the proceeds go to a good cause and JLC is a non-profit, not some evil business out to get you. And you still save plenty over new items at a regular store.
