  • My wife had a potential life threatening asthma attack on Monday evening accompanied by chest pains. After stabilizing her breathing with a nebulizer treatment, we headed to MT View hospital for treatment... Lo and behold there were people almost lined out in the parking lot. I took my wife to the check in screen and after answering yes to chest pains, she was to immediately tell the front check in desk. An obviously overworked front desk lady arranged for an EKG right away and we had her inside for the test within 2 mins...This was the normal efficiency we were used to for MT view ER staff. However, from here, the entire episode fell off the cliff. We were asked to go out and await the results in the main waiting room, that was filled with approximately 50 people, half were Latin that seemed to not know any English! For an entire hour we waited for the results and then asked the front desk about the test, where as the lady said that no doctor had read the EKG yet.... REALLY!!??? We wife could have been having a heart attack and because of the lack of communication, scheduling, or attention from the staff, a life-critical test was not read! The ER waiting room was maybe 80 degrees full of coughing adults and crying babies. Despite the crowd, this hospital was ill - equipped to handle the flow of ER clients on a Monday night or any night. We finally said bag it and went back home where I spent half the night awake to ensure my wife was not having any difficulty breathing. Mountain view Hospital needs to answer for this life threatening oversight and do something about the lack of staffing to handle the influx of ER patients on a Monday, Friday, or any night or day!
