Last Sunday I woke up at 5:30 am to my cat (Fredrico) who was acting very strange, it took me some time to realize that he hadn't been eating or drinking and he was breathing funny. I called a couple different places to get my baby into a vet ASAP. As soon as I called Happy Valley Animal Hospital I knew I had called the right place. The girl who answered the phone was very attentive and I was scheduled right away. I hurried in and we were taken straight back to a room.
Unfortunately my cat was sick and the outlook was not good. The assistant, Britney (sp?) did the vitals and initial check in was very kind, gentle and answered all the questions we had. We saw Dr Kaylee Yoshimoto. She was straightforward but caring at the same time. She had to give us the bad news and stood there as long as we needed while deciding what needed to be done.
When we returned for the euthanasia part of the appointment, everyone was very caring. There was not a doubt in my mind that they were kind to my cat as well as attentive to our needs as the crying / upset care givers. We stayed in the room for the euthanasia & even while my boyfriend and I were hugging, Dr. Yoshimoto waited for us to make sure we were ok.
No one wants to put their animal down & it's a day I'll always remember.. but I have to say that everyone in this office made it as painless as it could have been (for both Fredrico & myself).. They were patient, honest and thorough. It will be a while before I have another pet, but I will definitely be going to see Dr Yoshimoto & the team at Happy Valley Animal Hospital again.
