| - Home Craft Décor is one of those stores I always walked past but never walked into as the store resembles a bit of a flea market, rather disorganized, poor lighting and filled with all kinds of cheap and no-so attractive knock-off furniture.
I have been spending months trying to find a decent dining table for my office -- I had a strict budget and needed a certain style and size. After failing to find anything decent and under my budget online, I decided to give this store a try.
While most of the furniture and accessories in this store are indeed not very quality and convincing knockoffs, there are some pieces that look decent and very well priced. They had the table I was looking for it came in a great selection of tabletop sizes, and best of all it was $300 cheaper than some online stores I was looking at.
The lady that was working there, whom I assume was either the manager or owner, was very nice and helpful. After hearing that I work in the architecture and design industry, she started to name drop and mentioned that she has worked with Brian Gluckstein and other interior designers seen on HGTV and local TV shows and suggested I open an account to get their trade discount. It was all talk, as any respectable designer will not use their furniture as it looks cheap and the quality to match -- maybe for home staging or for a TV segment where you need something temporary or looks ok from afar.
I went ahead with the purchase with my table as I thought the quality at the very least was as good as Ikea, but later I discovered I was wrong. The table I bought had to be assembled. The screws I had received were 1/4" too long for the table top and as I screwed the base to the top I heard the mounting plate starting to crack and separate from the underside of the table top. I called up the store to see if they could give me the proper length of screws or bolts, but I was disappointed to hear that they don't have any and said I could get them at a hardware store or get washers to build up the difference.
Not to mention that the overall quality of the table is poor. The paint of the metal base had some hardened drips and overspill which I had to sand down even out the edges. Also the paint finish of the tabletop scratches and chips easily under just a short period of light use.
I have a feeling I will be refinishing/repainting my table in a year or two.
To sum it up: you get what you pay for here. The prices are cheap, but so is the quality and they do not stand behind their products which is preventing me from shopping there again or recommending them at all. It's simply not worth it.
