I've been in here twice in the past week and half and should have known better than to come back the second time after the first lackluster experience. Let's start with the first experience last Thursday I ran in on my way from uptown to a meeting towards university. Didn't have time for a proper lunch figured I'd grab a muffin and keep it moving. Wrong, I walk in and the place is full of people but no cashier to be seen. I wait patiently almost 4 minutes (there is now a line of people waiting) then a guy in is 20's comes out says 'what do you want'. No hello or how are you...then as I begin to tell him the phone rings and he answers it with no apology or request to wait a moment. Nothing short of rude. Order a pumpkin muffin and leave. The muffin tasted more like sweet cornbread than anything else not overly pumpkinesque just sweet and dry.
Today I decide I'm going to give the place another shot stop in to get a few treats for the office. Again the 20 year old guy with extreme angst is waiting on me. No pleasantries or anything. The phone rings and I ask him if he needs to get it before we start ordering this time he decides it can wait till later.
Eh for the price the pastries weren't that great and I can go without the teenager like apathy from the staff. Next time I'll just got to Amelie's which is disappointing because years ago (circa 2010) this place was fabulous with great staff and great pastries, now it just seems a little sad and rundown.
