  • So last week The Cleaning Authority "fired" me, after cleaning my home for almost a year. At least it felt that way. They got my business by promising to "customize" cleaning my home the way I wanted it done (completely clean the bathrooms, with few things on "rotation"), but they never did. When the owner Ken Orr did a walk through, he said he could accommodate the specifics I asked for, and that he would put it in his notes for the cleaners. After not delivering on the services he said he would, I asked to see the notes and my bathroom specifics were not in there. I specifically said I wanted certain things done every time. Ken Orr agreed, but obviously never intended to deliver. I even gave them the benefit of the doubt and called it a misunderstanding, regarding our initial conversation about items that did not get put in the notes. Twice I offered to pay more for them to do my bathrooms without rotations (except for a few), so it isn't like I was trying to get more for the same initial price. This is what their email said, when I asked how much more it would cost to clean my bathrooms without rotations, except for a few items that made sense not to clean every two weeks: "After reviewing your emails with the owners, due to the fact that our rotation process does not seem to fit well for you, we feel our company is not a good fit. Effective immediately, we have you off our schedule." My impression is that Ken Orr is such a good salesman (could sell you a toothbrush without bristles); they must build it into their business practices to have a continuous turn-over of customers. Do a good job at first; then let it go downhill, knowing they can bring in more business by continuous deception. I agree with the other 1-star Yelp reviews that used the words "arrogant", "WORST customer service around" - "combative" ... It was interesting to read "arrogant" in several other reviews. Shortly after hiring The Cleaning Authority, I remembered from years before that his son Patrick Orr had come out. I recall him being so arrogant that I did not hire them. I should have read the reviews before giving them a second chance. I need to add dishonest to my Yelp review because Ken Orr out and out lied to me. They are so untrustworthy; I felt I needed to contact the Tempe Police to request extra patrolling around our home. They are waiting over 3 weeks to return my key because their policy is not to return keys until the end of the month, and they are not open outside my work day for me to go pick it up. The saddest thought I had when I read their email: "If this is how they treat their customers, I can't imagine how poorly they must treat their employees. I do hope they are not taking advantage of immigrant or illegal workers." I DO NOT RECOMMEND this cleaning service! They most certainly DO NOT CUSTOMIZE!
