  • I've been going to BEA since I arrived in Pittsburgh five years ago. The staff has shuffled a bit and the building has changed but the principles have remained. They're dedicated to providing quality care for your animals, big or small. I currently have three cats and two dogs. My oldest dog is 13 and has started having complications due to old age, but they've never once given me a hard time. They listen when I have worries or frustrations, they work with me to get a solution. I also have a puppy that's only 5 months, they've staggered his shots in what seems like the perfect combination and he hasn't had any poor reactions to them. He's healthy and happy and growing rapidly! I've also had a few heartbreaking experiences with them, I had a kitten that started having seizures. I eventually had to put the poor kitten down but Aileen and Sarah were there for me, giving me hugs and getting teary eyed after 6 months of us trying to balance him. A few short days later, I received a card in the mail with a tiny kitten footprint on it. It was from the staff of the BEA and the 'rainbow bridge' poem. I cried as hard as I did the day I lost Tesla, but I also felt like I had a family. They've got a heart of gold. The other experience isn't really related to them as doctors, but rather as humans... Two years ago my mom got sick, I found out she was being put in a medically induced coma while sitting in their office waiting to be seen with my dog. Aileen walked in as I was on the phone and immediately saw my face drop and the tears flow. What happened next is nothing short of amazing. She halted everything she was doing to comfort me, talk with me, be a friend when I needed it. She cried with me, hugged me tight and retrieved a set of prayer beads that her friend had passed to her when she was having a rough time. I held onto those beads through the three months my mom was down. The next time I was in, Aileen wasn't even the doctor seeing my pup but she made a point to come in and talk. She wanted to know how my mom was and if I was doing okay or needed anything. This is the kind of service that gets 5 stars from me. I'm also starting at the doggy daze cafe and boarding this coming week so I'm sure I'll be back to rant and rave about how great that is too!
