  • Got a Groupon for Parador Inn for my parents anniversary thinking it will be a great new experience for them. Tried to make some basic enquiries on phone about a couple of dietary restrictions (for next morning' s breakfast) my parents have, to which Ed, the owner, was very rude and curt (maybe thats his way of being 'professional'). I let it go thinking maybe he's just having a bad day. I then try to book a room through the Groupon and mention the dietary restrictions clearly, I get an email from Ed saying literally 'I am by myself in the kitchen, I cannot do ala carte for each person, you should cancel your reservation'. First, thats not how you communicate with new customers- thats how you scare them away, and thats common sense. Second, even if the rudeness is not off-putting enough, their inability to approach my situation as 'okay, lets see what we can do here' made me rather thoughtful as to how open are these people really to dealing with challenges that could be opportunities. Seems like they pre-select and take in very typical customers who go exactly by their book and cause THEM the least inconvenience. Strange, considering they are in the customer service business, they seemed pretty narrow-minded. Anyway, FINALLY they mention that all their breakfast items have eggs in it, which was one of the dietary restrictions I was very initially trying to get information for. They could easily have figured out something else to offer in lieu of eggs (of the thousand simple breakfast options in the world), but instead they told me to return the Groupon. Well, so thats what I am doing, needless to say I wasted a lot of my time and enthusiasm and got nothing in return! Disappointing, at the very least. I dont know much about their grandiose reviews but not too sure I would believe all of them. Looked too good to be all true. Try not to get a Groupon rightway for this business, first make your enquiries because following up is a major pain and you may be disappointed.
