Oh Dufflet. My absolute fave thing is their pumpkin tarts/ pies. It is pure HEAVEN!!! It gets a 5 star from me any day. It's the BEST I have tried in Toronto even better than those pie specialty stores. I may have to buy a freezer to stock up on them seeing as they are only offered for 3 months of the year :(. The spiced fresh cream and candied ginger make it oh so...... wow, I am lost for adjectives.
As for their cakes, they are getting less impressive by the day. They once used to bake things from scratch but not anymore. I guess something has got to give if you are planning on having your desserts offered in supermarkets and coffee shops around the city. Their pink velvet, which is supposed to be their dye free version of a red velvet is just ok. It's just a spice cake (with a whisper of cocoa) topped with cream cheese icing and had some of my friends arguing that it was a carrot cake lol. Speaking of which, their carrot cake is quite nice. It is dense and has walnuts in it. Their cupcake version is nut free.
Now about the macaroons, they are TOOO sweet! Too much sugar, OMG!!
Though they identify as a cake shop, I think their strength lies in their pies/tarts because even though I am raving about the pumpkin, their assorted crumble pies and tarts are delicious and even better than those offered by famous pie shops!
