| - My family had my sister in laws wedding reception here. I had talked to several people that regularly attend events here. They had said that the place had been slipping, but I never expected how bad it would be while my in laws were paying for a 170 person wedding. There were positives. I was able to check in a few hours early which was extremely helpful. The food was above average, although the waiter, after spilling water on the bride and soup on my wife,
took my plate without asking three times. I thought it was obvious that I wasn't finished yet, having half of my food still there right in front of me while looking away to tend to my young child.
The reception was fine and fun until the end when an employee stated screaming at my brother in law for underage drinking.... Except he wasn't drinking. He was in a motorcycle accident a few months prior and had trouble walking. Limping with a cane (which he did all night) is "stumbling", according to an employee. She screamed for him and a few others to get out. The others were drinking but were all 21! Nobody was acting rowdy or getting out of hand. The kicker too is that not one person was carded all night! He didn't scream, but my brother in law assertively made it known that his family was paying a lot of money for this event. Which led them to call the police... Who came and did nothing....
Talking with my mother in law the next day, it was explained that the police coming was just a precaution to make sure that nobody underage was going to Jackson's, the restaurant on site afterwards. If you can't handle carding patrons and asking those to leave the bar who are underage (and there were none that we're going over there) then what are you doing in the hospitality business? I've never seen that issue handled in that manner anywhere else.
After the reception, my wife and I and several others headed over to the bar at Jackson's. One of those was one of the 21 year olds who was kicked out for allegedly being underage. We laughed after his second drink came and he still hadn't been carded here either. The bartender was, however, very pleasant and prompt. They actually stayed open late for us. Jackson's gets 5 stars.
My wife went to bed and a few of us decided to get an Uber to the Meadows Casino. The Uber was taking a while so we joined my brother in law and his underage friends who couldn't go with us next to the road. We were sitting there smoking cigarettes and admiring the view, when a shady looking guy drives up and says "just so you know, if you're doing anything illegal, this lady likes to call the cops". Most were ready to turn in anyway, and didn't want to deal with it so they went to bed. Waiting for an Uber in a parking lot isn't illegal so I wasn't going anywhere. Nobody had been being loud or causing problems, and the staff knew we were guests. If they thought that we were up to no good, there would've been no problem if they were to approach us, or even yell over at us to see what we were doing. Anyway, my Uber was taking forever, so I decided to cancel it and just go to bed. Right after I walk in the door, a cop drives by the lobby over to where we were sitting and makes a slow pass. I heard an employee say somethings along the lines of "that's one of them" as I walked through the lobby. I was the only person there. Had I not had alcohol in me I probably would've called attention to it and spoke with a manager on the spot. Instead I just shook my head and walked away.
The next morning, my wife went to breakfast with her family. We stopped back so that I could eat and were greeted with a smug "Oh, you're back". That waitress changed her tone but then left us after giving me my food and socializing with a couple at another table for a decent amount of time. Not once did I feel truly welcomed by an employee. My wife has been talking all day about how rude everyone was.
I will never give this place another dime.... Ever. If you want a great alternative, there is a Holiday Inn a few streets down in Southpointe that we've stayed at.
