  • I went to my doctors appointment on Thursday and asked when we would plan an induction for as I was at my due date and not in labor. My doctor scheduled it for that night at 8pm. Since I got here every single nurse has made me feel like I'm wasting their time. The Cytotec wasn't making me dilate. Rather than move on to other induction methods, they continued to put in Cytotec and give me attitude about how I could just go home. They tried cervadil, put it in wrong, and it fell out in the night so I wasted 12 hours waiting for nothing in the hospital(I'm sure my insurance will love that) The day nurse was rude and abrasive. She actually audibly sighed and rolled her eyes when having to check me and then said, "ugh yeah, no changes. I figured." She insinuated that I couldn't afford to buy food and should just shut up and eat the soggy fish they brought me that smelled and looked terrible. I'm her words, "starving people shouldn't complain." Though I never said I was hungry. And repeatedly made comments to my boyfriend that he couldn't afford to bring me food. The night nurse, Sara, was very nice. But both day nurses I've had carried an attitude. Edit: I'm on day 5 of staying in this hospital and want to update to include everything. After our uncomfortable experience with Kathy, we had gotten another day nurse named Stephanie. She also was apparently informed that my options were to keep doing Cytotec or go home. This is fine, except nobody explained why this was or what was happening. She and Kathy both would check my cervix like they were inconvenienced and then try to pressure me into leaving. Stephanie told me I couldn't have my water broken as an induction method because my baby would get sick and DIE. Seriously, a medical professional said that. Every time I asked her any questions I was met with an attitude because my induction was elective and apparently that means I don't deserve to know things. Finally my doctor called in and explained what they were doing, which is sad, because I feel like they should have been able to do so themselves. They made me feel like they didn't care if my induction worked or went well because it was elective. Anyways, at this point my MIL calls in and complains. They replaced my nurse with Janet who was wonderful and informative. She was there for the rest of the induction and eventual c section. Her, the anesthesiologist, and Dr. Norton were informative and quick on their feet and I felt very comfortable and taken care of even when things seemed like they were going south. After my c section I went to postpartum and my baby went to nicu because he was Coombs positive(my last son was too). The night nurse Eunice was attentive. She checked on me frequently, provided information, and physically helped me do things I couldn't do alone. The bathroom and room were clean and well stocked. The next day nurse left me sitting on the edge of the bed waiting for her for two hours to take me to see my son. She checked on me almost never. When I hit the button no one came. I had to ask her if I wanted any help doing anything which was embarrassing and I was stuck on my bed because of all the wires and catheter. This would be my experience with every day nurse after. Some of them would come in and pretend they'd been to my room before by checking different times on the board. My doctor prescribed me something and the nurse claimed they had no idea and then just walked away and did nothing. My sister had to call the doctor for the nurse to suddenly walk in and say she "found" the prescription. The last nurse I had refused to call my doctor for me. I asked her all day when he'd be coming to check my incision and discharge me and she would just say she didn't know. His office advised to have a nurse call him so I asked her to call him for an ETA and she said no. She actually said, "why would I do that?" While glaring at me. Once I had to walk past them every day to go to the NICU it was very clear why they were so rude and lazy. Every single one of them was sitting on their phone every single time I walked by. Most of the rooms are empty as there are almost no patients and you never see a nurse walking anywhere. They're just sitting there 24/7 and then when you call them they're irritated because they have to get up. Anyways this is getting long. The point is that you should not have a baby here. There are several good nurses but the bad ones make it a miserable experience. I feel neglected and disrespected.
