I'm fairly new to SHM so my rating may change!
The prepared food is excellent offering a vast selection of ready to heat meals incorporating very top-quality ingredients. So far the Lasagna and meat loaf and chicken Parma were all great. Only the fresh Thai style shrimp rolls were quite disappointing, obviously stale and thirteen dollars for the four, unsubstantial pieces, the rice wrap was in turns soggy and hard.
The meat counter is impressive with nicely-marbled cuts, itself worth a stop and I think the store must cater to a selective market with very high expectations and healthy budgets. Hence the good ingredients! I expect also some easily-baffled customers have no ability with a kitchen knife because here pre-cut raw ingredients like celery are offered at a substantial premium.
And so you can also find other fresh goods and pantry staples you'd buy elsewhere for 50-80% more than you'd buy elsewhere. Browse them for your amusement and try not to be offended.
At least they are a good selection, which would be convenient for well-heeled locals and perhaps the added cost premium helps the store carry the cost of so many excellent fresh meals to go some of which may be loss leaders. Everything is economics, and there is a reason they are able to offer prime cuts of beef not seen most places.
