| - This is only the second time I've ever written a review about a business and the first was over a year ago and was to leave a highly positive review. I'm pretty upset, as I just spent over three hours of frustration at the Madison Ave. Salon, which got worse as it went on.
I see that others have written good reviews for this salon, but my experience was very poor and extremely frustrating. I received a certificate for a pedicure and manicure as a gift. When I called to make my appointment, I asked about substituting a nail fill for the manicure and was told that I couldn't do that, but could possibly pay the difference, which I planned to not do as I have a salon I go to regularly for my nails and am very pleased with them. When I showed up at Madison Ave. for my appointment at 9 am, the girl I was scheduled with was not there. No one knew where she was or what had happened. I know that mix ups happen and I don't typically get too ruffled over things like that. I wasn't in a terrible hurry so I waited for 20 minutes before they told me that another girl was going to do the pedicure for me and that they would have her or the girl I was originally scheduled with do my nail fill if I had time since I had been so patient with them. I agreed.
After the pedicure, which was poor to mediocre (I have red nail polish all over my toes), I went to the next room for the nail fill.
The process was, hands down, the slowest I've ever experienced. For both a nail fill and a pedicure in my usual salon, I'm there at tops for 1 1/2 hours. I endured 3 hours at Madison Avenue for substandard service, and wasn't even given time after my nail fill was done for them to dry. The nail tech put on the last coat of polish and said "okay you're done. I'll walk you up front."
I was already tired and frustrated, but the kicker was that they charged me the difference in price from a manicure to a nail fill. I thought they were substituting that portion of my certificate at no cost because of the inconvenience their scheduling issue had caused me. The difference itself was was 50% higher than I what I pay at my salon for a full nail fill with gel coat (there was no gel coat here).
I will never go to the Madison Avenue salon again. They are overpriced, the quality of their services is poor to mediocre, and they didn't try to make things right by me this morning.
