  • I have stayed here a total of 3 times, starting from about 2013? My earlier visits have been pretty good (although not amazing) but my last visit was very bad. In full disclosure, my last visit was about 2 years ago, so this review is long overdue. First of all, my mom owns a timeshare. She does not own a timeshare with Grandview but she is able to trade hers to stay here or at other places. This specific resort is always one of the cheapest trades (meaning it has the least requirements/points), which is why we have stayed here often. My first 2 stays were with family and yes there was one of those presentations but it was not bad. On my last trip, it was just my boyfriend and I. Before booking here via the timeshare, I looked at the reviews here on yelp. I found a very negative review in which someone said they found a dead roach in their room - one of those huge ones (there is a photo). I am terrified of roaches! That review almost made me no book the Grandview. I personally never felt the salespeople were "overly" pushy when I went with my mom, so I was not worried about that at all as it is expected from resort hotels. But anyway, having been here twice before and had good experiences, I decided to give this place another chance. After all, roaches wander everywhere once in a while, especially those giant roaches that mostly live outside, so I figured that person just had terrible luck and that it would be extremely unlikely that I would see a roach there. The other reviews did not mention roaches either. I got to the resort late (like at 2 or 3 a.m.) and my boyfriend was exhausted, as was I since I had done all the driving. They gave us a room on the first floor (forgot which building), I had requested something on a high level but they said the hotel was fully booked. When we came in, my boyfriend noticed a kind of dingy smell. I am not sensitive to smells, I did not notice anything. The first thing my boyfriend did was go to the bathroom, only to find a dirty toilet that had not been flushed! Gross! Even if the previous tenants were disgusting forgetful slobs, why would housekeeping not notice and flush the damn thing? I don't know if it was #1 or #2, I didn't ask, but I remember my boyfriend flushing as soon as he went in and complaining about it afterward. Anyways, the first I did was look around for roaches. I didn't think I would find one but my roach phobia is so strong that I was too paranoid to go to sleep before I could confirm there were no roaches. I didn't check super carefully either, mind you. I just wanted to convince myself it was an unlucky experience the other yelper had so that I could put the issue out of sight and out of mind. To my horror, it took no time or effort at all before I found one of those huge dead roaches in the bedroom corner, flipped over with its guts to the air. GROSS!!! I immediately called the front desk. I told them the situation and while I was glad they were able to change our room (even though they had previously said the hotel was fully booked), I couldn't hep but notice their lack of... apologies. Even though it took long for someone to come (I think he was a security guard, if I remember correctly, as he had a uniform and mentioned something) that I had to call twice, no apologies. Our second room was perfectly fine, no weird smell, no roaches, and no soil in the toilet. Other than the lack of professionalism or customer service, the rest of our visit was good as we enjoyed going out to the Strip and the Hoover Dam. When it was time to go home I realized something - I never gave back the keys to my old room. Because they never asked. Even in check out they only asked for the keys to my most recent room. That worried me too, what if someone had been allowed to keep the keys to my room during their entire stay? They also didn't bother to ask me how my stay was. :( Disappointed. :( Set a horrible tone for my trip, especially having happened so early (my boyfriend and I even had a small argument) and I did not feel valued or appreciated even at a basic level as a customer! (Funny enough, they didn't even approach us for timeshares, maybe due to our ages or maybe because they knew they screwed up big time). Not coming back. Warning others.
