| - Dropped by on a Saturday evening post-dinner and was surprised to find this place pretty much empty (it was around 9PM), especially given that the place is not very big to begin with. The crowd picked up briefly shortly afterwards when the place was almost full for a few minutes.
They have a large offering of cakes, drinks and desserts. For the cakes, you're limited to what's sitting in the fridge. Honestly, I'm quite curious to know where these cakes come from. Is there someone in the patisserie who actually makes them at the beginning of the day and then goes home afterwards? Or do they just order the stuff from some other place and resell it to customers at a profit? Two of the cakes I wanted to try weren't available, so I opted for the Royal chocolate. It was very good, but I still want to know -- where the heck did this cake come from?
Two girls were working here when we arrived. They were pleasant to deal with. I don't think any of them were the owners. They took orders and made drinks, but based on how the lattes, cappucinos, etc. were turning out, they didn't seem like particularly well-trained baristas, at least not of the caliber you'd expect from a placed that touts itself as a "cafe."
It's just a weird spot to me. I think I'd much rather head over to Pastel in the future, but that place is always packed.
