| - I am sad to report that one of my once-favorite restaurants in Charlotte is not the same Savor I had often referred to as "Charlotte's best kept secret." My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday night for a dinner date. Things started off great- the hostess/waitress was very pleasant.
I ordered the pan-seared chicken cutlet which came with collards and diced root vegetables. He got the steak which came with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and a complementary long blonde HAIR. That's right, a hair was in his dish that looked to match the food runner's. Working in food and bev for years, I know this stuff is bound to happen from time to time and we both had a good laugh about it.
What we were not laughing about, was how the management at Savor handled this disgusting surprise.
My boyfriend, who is the size of an NFL player, was given a little garden side salad while I ate my meal before it went cold. The chicken was amazing but unfortunately, the potatoes were so under cooked that they were hard and could not be eaten.
By the time his replacement steak was brought out sans hair, my plate was clean (minus the rock-tatoes) so he had to eat while I watched. Not our idea of a romantic date night.
Of course we do not go out to dinner trying to get free meals, but what really surprised us is when the check came we were charged the full amount for a hairy dinner that we had to watch each other eat instead of enjoying together. The waitress did comp one round of our drinks, however.
I would definitely think twice about going back to Savor again.
