  • I viewed Town & Country Apartments in April of 2012. My mom and I arrived from Arkansas, tired and just ready to see a few places, sign a lease, and head back home. The leasing agents at Town & Country were very nice; they showed us around different apartments that met my budget and answered all of my questions. I've been living at Town & Country since June of 2012. Overall, I'm pleased. Maintenance has been fast the majority of the time I had a maintenance issue. The one time they took a while to fix an issue was when I had leak in the ceiling in my bathroom. It wasn't the hugest leak in the world but it was still unnerving to see a crack in your ceiling and water dripping down every hour. I have a one bedroom apartment and to me it's HUGE! I feel like I don't have enough furniture for it. If you're a student at the U of I, I wouldn't recommend these apartments for you. It's not the fault of Town & Country but one big negative about living here is that the bus stops running at 7:00. If you live at Town & Country, the bus you'll be taking is the 10 Gold. You can catch it in front of Town & Country or at Cunningham & Oakland (but it doesn't always run by there, be sure to check the CUMTD website or their booklet). If you're someone like me who hates to drive and likes public transportation, Town & Country may not be your best bet. If you plan on being home by 7:00 Monday-Friday (as the 10 Gold does not run on the weekends) then it won't be a big deal to rely on public transportation. There is the 110 Ruby (at the time I'm writing this review), but it only runs every hour. If you're at Lincoln Square waiting for the Ruby, it's much faster to just walk home. The exercise doesn't hurt but in the winter, it's not the most fun walk in the world. Plus if there's snow or ice on the sidewalk, you have to slow down to avoid falling. Another transportation tidbit: these apartments are very close to the interstate if you have to hop on that to go to work or to visit Chicago. My rent is around $620 something every month and this includes my rent, water bill, and the $19.95 charge for internet. I'm very satisfied with the speed and reliability of the internet service they offer. I had a few issues with it when I first moved in but I very rarely have issues now. I can watch movies, download movies, etc. without any issues. They are raising rent, by around $20-30 which may not sound like much but for some people that could make a big difference. Each building has a laundry room and at the time of writing, it costs $1.50 to wash and $1.50 to dry your clothes. The washing machine cycle lasts 26 minutes and the dryer cycle is 60 minutes. I have noticed that a lot of my clothes have shrunk due to the dryer. Sure, some shrinkage is normal, but it's much more than I'm used to. I now just let some items air dry. Tip: If you do a lot of online shopping, tape a note on your door letting delivery people know that you want your item delivered to the leasing office. I had a package stolen back in November, and apparently other people in the complex have had packages stolen too.
