I used tender touch for a within toronto move (jarvis and wellesley to bloor and spadina) in 2009. This move was a bad experience for me for the following reasons:
1. The movers dragged out the move substantially. I was living in an apartment with a furnished living room and partly furnished bedroom so I had very little furniture of my own (bed frame, mattress, wardrobe, bookshelf, TV). tender touch took much longer and as significantly more expensive than any other company even though my other moves included many more possessions and have been further distances.
2. The 'we decide in the middle of the move how long this move is going to take and then charge your credit card for that many hours of work' policy. I cant believe this could actually be a policy. I'm more inclined to believe it was just the mover in charge being an a**hole. but once they had most of my stuff loaded into their truck I was told my move would take x amount of time based on their expert opinion and that I had to pay for that time now in order for them to continue with my move. If they took longer they would charge me again. I didn't agree with this but ended up paying because they had all my stuff.
3. The a**hole mover. One of the movers was perfectly reasonable to deal with but the other one who was responsible for dealing with me was pretty condescending and did very little.
There are a lot of great reviews for these guys out there so I can't help but wonder if the bad experience I had with these guys was because of the 1 a**hole mover and if that guy even works there anymore
