  • An interestingly old B&B. This place is old. Seriously. It's on the list of Charlotte's historic places. It looks like a place that your grandma might've hung out at in her old pictures. The place looks like a traditional Southern plantation or estate. The artwork, the china, the tapestries, the little doilies all would make your grandma squeal with delight. We arrived to find that they had put my mother and me in the wrong room with one small bed. I frowned at the staff, and pointed out that there must be some sort of mistake. They apologized greatly, and showed us to our correct room, which was in the attic of the main building. Our room was one of the strangest B&B rooms I've ever stayed in. It was named after an old-timey Western actor, and had books about him, and photos of the guy all over the room. Since we were staying in the attic, the roof was sloped inwards, and we kept banging our heads on the roof. The decor was quite interesting, with weird trinkets and decorations. They had a rocking horse creepily placed in the corner, watching over the room. The room was quiet and pleasant. The mattresses seemed like they were made at the same time as the house was, they were quite old and broken in. We had access to the air conditioning controls, since someone had previously broken the lock on the control panel, so our room was quite comfortable once we set the temperature. The food here was average. They served us breakfast. Eggs, bacon, coffee and toast. The staff was very nice and pleasant. They didn't know too much about the area, but they always smiled as we walked in, and took good care of us. The grounds here are absolutely beautiful! If you get a chance, I recommend walking around and checking out all the gardens, the waterfall and pond. It's so pleasant and peaceful.
