I don't think anyone could have done more for that old Montemarte space than what the Underground have done. It looks better than ever and it is definitely one of the top interiors in Madison.
The food is great. You might not care for a certain dish, but it won't be because it's not well prepared. These guys know food and they know it very well. What they don't know, yet, is how to run a restaurant. But that will come in time and there are really only some slight quirks.
If you want a unique dinner, come to the Kitchen. If you want to feel like you've entered an OIive Garden commercial, go to the fucking Olive Garden and enjoy some frozen pasta dishes.
Perhaps there a few things that need polishing at the Kitchen, but it's a dining experience that is well worth your time. That is if you appreciate local ingredients, a well thought menu and quality bar-service.
