| - Tonight we tried the chicken shawerma, the gyro, the greek fries and the hummus.
DH loved his gyro and ate the whole thing in a couple minutes. He graded it a solid A.
The greek fries were pretty darn good, but I tend to like crispier fries. Perhaps these got a little soggy in the two mile drive in styrofoam, so I will give them a B instead of a C. :) They were not covered in lemon dijon goodness, but they were still delicious.
The chicken shawerma was tasty, but it was just not the garlicky goodness I am used to. The spices just were not in the family of flavors I like. I couldn't tell if the rice served with it was a saffron rice or maybe some type of curried rice... but I was not a fan. It was just sort of a "sweet" taste... whereas I prefer sort of tangy, spicy, salty flavors. I'd say most people would call it an A or a B, but I would have to call it a C because the flavors didn't jive in my mouth.
The pitas were delicious and just the right amount of chewy.
The hummus was... um... bland and just not blended like I am used to. I added some of the tahini that came in a side container and that made it a little more familiar. However, the texture was just not blended enough for my tastes. C-.
Would we eat here again if we were in Tempe? Maybe. DH picked the food up and said the man working at the counter was friendly and patient with his order.
We'd just make sure to ask if they had any garlic-heavy flavors next time since we are BIG garlic eaters and we love garlic in our food!
An aside: they did not really have any "kid-friendly" options, but they happily agreed to melt some mozzarella into a pita for us for a pseudo-quesadilla. Very cool.
