  • Never felt so trapped! So I moved in mid June 2015. I am not a picky person when we moved in and I saw what looked a crappy paint job,a wet rag wiped on the walls with the remains of ants I didn't complain. I said you cant expect the apt to be like new. When I went into the resident svcs office in late July about my cabinet hanging by a hinge needing to be fixed and heard another resident complaining because the weeds were growing through the stairs, I thought thats a ridiculous complaint. So before the flood in my apt on August 17th I didn't really exist nor was I a bother. But the handling of my the flood in my apt has left me feeling the biggest regret moving here!! They are so cheap they didn't even have a restoration company come out to do repairs everyone worked with the company and everyone was "great" or an "expert" at what they did. The contract states if the unit is unhabitable due to fire or any other peril the lease may be terminated of course at the will of the company not at yours. So apparently a flood that kept me out of my apt for 5days is not considered a peril?...they offered to move me into a different unit same sqft but the bedrooms and bathrooms significantly smaller (I have 2 little ones) then the other unit offered was 200sqft more but I would have to pay $117 more a month. So what choice does that leave me...none. I was given credit for 4 nights when I was out 5 nights. They got their #s for the credit from I dont know where the paper showed rates for 2 reasonable hotels but the paper didnt have the date/website source..when asked about credit for my water bill obviously afraid because it was the hose from the wall to the toilet tank that caused the flood, I was told the whole community would end up paying for it...that doesn't seem fair, so my neighbors pay because of failure to check the maintenance before I moved in and the last tennant moved out? They obviously had to have A/C heat running in my unit for the week of repairs and when asked about that being taken into consideration I was not given a definite answer more like lets cross that bridge when the bill comes. The week of repairs I had Tuesday to remove my necessities, first I was told to leave my furniture and everything would be out in the center really that is impossible I had too much furniture and I was already told repeatedly that they are not responsible for my damaged property so why would I leave it there to further the damage? So I am 1st told that I have to pay $85 to rent a garage on property to store my belongings for a couple of days. I obviously argued this and was given a garage unit...only to be given one that didn't lock!! The next day Wednesday locks were changed as I was I knew they would be, when asked why because of safety reasons and they had equipment in there. They closed the blinds and covered the windows so no one could see in. When my neighbor got caught looking in she was scolded by one of maintenance men and he said" I have to close these blinds". What did they not want to be seen?? I am back in the unit and the vinyl flooring is scheduled to be changed. The carpet is stated to have been changed and the guy that was "excellent " at dry wall wow! Not so much. You can see the pics of the way the dry wall was left. I just dont want them to try and hold me responsible for the "fix it job" their great dry wall guy did. Oh and my neighbor had her master bedroom/closet and bath flooded as well because of all the water in my unit and they just shampooed her carpet. I have never seen a more no f&#!s given job on paint/drywall and carpet. I have yet to know if they will test for mold and I have not gotten my bill for rent which is next week? But when I logged in to pay online only August statement is there and I have a late fee? I really hope this is not relatation for the pain I have been to them in my time of need. I am thinking maybe because I fortgot to include the $1.00 processing fee for a money order but now I have to pay a $54 late fee because I left off a dollar on my money order for a processing money order fee...but it's all fair right!! Seriously a nightmare and I dont wish an experience like this on my worse enemy. An honest review just STAY AWAY!!
