| - I had a birdwatching friend mention there were some wood ducks in the ponds at Aliante Nature Park.
We headed over this morning, with our two dogs, to take a walk and visit the park for the first time.
I had read previous reviews which made me wary, but early on a Sunday morning (8:30-9:00) on arrival we saw a pretty clean park. There were several dog walkers and the park trash cans, while used recently, were not overflowing. A few families with children were at the playground. The grounds were free of dog messes- and I looked carefully.
The number of benches to sit on is pretty good. We sat and watched the waterfowl in the little ponds.
One interesting observation was that while there were pigeons in the neighboring trees, the pigeons appeared more interested in the shallow water for bathing at the northernmost tip of the ponds.
The grass is in pretty good shape.
Volley ball and tennis courts were good.
There are covered picnic/barbecue spots.
There is no dog park, per se, but the people with dogs can walk the periphery of the park on clean paved trails.
There is some trash in the water but this appeared to be a result of yesterday's windstorm. Water which is populated by geese, coots, and ducks, understandably has some expected issues with being dirty, but in general was not bad or smelly today.
The park is behind Aliante Casino, off the 215.
We are in Spring Valley but this is a pleasant place for a quiet Sunday. It's a good place to sit and read or enjoy a stroll.
