Location: Perfect and right in the heart of Old Montreal.
Price: Overpriced. Not good value for what you pay
Rated this hotel as 1 star for the following reasons
1) Room overlooked the dumpsters which were emptied every morning between 6:30 -7 am. I'm not a light sleeper but was jarred awake every morning. The furnace is located in the bedroom which I found quite noisy.
2) Breakfast was served between 6:30-9:30 am. To avoid the train wreck which happens between 8:30 a 9:30 am, you have to get up at 6 am. The restaurant is too small for the number of guests and understaffed. You run the risk of losing both your table and your food if you left your table to join the buffet line. Most times you cannot find cups for the juice, cutlery, food etc..
3) Unfriendly staff. The first night I requested additional towels and was told the hotel ran out of towels. Are you kidding me!!! You pay over $300/night and this is the service!!! Unbelievable!! I asked for housekeeping to assist me with the bed in the couch. The staff which came was clearly annoyed which showed in her body language. She barely acknowledged my presence.
4) Poorly designed room and lots of wasted space. The bathroom had a huge jacuzzi tub but the tiny shower was a challenge to use every day. I kept hitting my elbows against the walls when trying to shampoo my hair. They could have extended the shower stall by a few more inches. If you are over 5 ft 8 inches, use the tub. The room had a full kitchen complete with a dishwasher, full sized fridge and microwave but lacked any plates and cutlery so was totally useless.
The bedroom had 2 double beds which was tight for the room and a small closet with sliding doors. Problem was it was beside the bed, and the bathroom which made it difficult to use.
There 3 of us in the room, 1 adult and 2 teenagers and no room to store our suitcases.
It would have been more efficient to reduce the size of the kitchen and expand the bedroom area.
Overall was not impressed with this hotel. Won't be staying at this chain of hotels as the quality has deteriorated.
4) Internet - they want to charge you $9.99/day for wifi which is spotty at best. Worst wifi service I ever had. I went down the block to the Starbucks to use their wifi to send a couple of emails.
