| - I went to Mastro's for a business dinner for the first time earlier this month, and definitely plan on going back again if the opportunity arises.
The staff, from the hostess to our waiter, were very friendly, and our waiter was very knowledgable on the menu, chef preparation recommendations and specials. He also didn't hover too much, which is appreciated.
Our table started with calamari and an order of one of the day's selected oysters. The calamari was incredibly tender, the oysters were excellent too - the delicate cucumber flavor was exactly as described by our waiter.
For our main course, I had the arctic char oreganata (prepared with seasoned breadcrumbs) and my companions had the special wagyu and Chilean sea bass. For sides, we split the gorgonzola mac & cheese, sauteed asparagus and creamed corn.
I'm deducted one star for the slightly underseasoned sides and for the ridiculously large portion sizes. My arctic char, while delicious, was enough for three meals (no, seriously, it was a pound of fish), and the sides were also much larger than you would expect at a restaurant in this price range, which can significantly limit the variety of sides you can try if you're dining in a party of 5 or less.
