Let our golden retriever outside for not even 10 minuets and she came back in with her entire muzzle swollen. Having some veterinary experience, I gave her some Benadryl, the swelling subsided and we all went to bed for the night.
2am she starts nuzzling me and sure enough her entire face, eyes and neck were completely puffed up, she sort of resembled those goldfish with the bulging eyes at the pet shop. I contacted VECC North immediately, the receptionist was calm and collected and notified me it was probably time to come in.
We live in Centennial and this was only an 8 minute drive from my house, the wait time wasn't bad at all and the receptionists even accommodated my other golden who I had to bring for "emotional support" ;)
I was expecting an outrageous bill but spent less than $150 and I left with peace of mind and a happier pup.
If you live in the north region and run into a pet emergency in the middle of the night, definitely pay them a visit.
