| - There are a ton of nail salons in Calgary, and I've probably visited 95% of the ones located in the SW. Phamtastic is one of the stronger ones, particularly when balancing price and quality.
Don't get me wrong - this is not "frills" spa-type shop that charges a fortune for everything, nor is it a bargain basement quality place either.
Here are a few of the positives I especially appreciate:
-You can purchase your own tool kit that they keep for you and will only use on you - no sharing, no sketchy "did they sanitize that thoroughly after the last girl" concerns.
-They are more full service than average, offering the standard array of nails, (e.g., gel, shellac and polish) as well as esthetics (e.g., waxing and tinting), permanent makeup and lash extensions.
-Unlike most of the nail salons I've been to, they offer me coffee or water. I never take it, but always appreciate the ask.
-You can tell it is well managed. For example, on several occasions I've been in and had a manager-type lady pleasantly breeze by and do a quality check. I appreciate this aspect of service a lot.
Like many such salons, the quality and consistency can vary depending on which technician you are paired with. I have consistently visited Danielle for waxing and pedicures, and she is both pleasant and helpful. I also appreciate her work and her enthusiasm.
I don't have any particular drawbacks to mention, which for me is a very good thing. Overall, a solid nail salon.
