  • I have been going to Oasis for a little over a year now, and everything has been fine until recently. My dog has seasonal allergies, and they were exceptionally bad this year. We went in and he was tested for mites (just in case- and the test came back negative) and given a CADI injection, which worked for about 6 weeks (2 weeks longer than promised- yay!) Once it wore off, we came in for another, which unfortunately did not work at all. I was not able to make the appointment and had my boyfriend take him in for me. He was sent home with just an antibiotic, which did not make sense to me as my dog was still itching and not allowing the affected area to heal. I emailed the vet, Mary, who said she hoped that the antibiotic alone should do the trick, and asked me for an update after a week. I emailed her back, saying that the antibiotic was ineffective, and that i wanted to come in to discuss further options. After 5 days with no reply, I emailed her again, to which she responded that we would start a temporary steroid regimen. I called the vet's office to make sure the prescription was ready and was informed that there was also a prescription for Nexguard (flea and tick medication) Since the vet had not told me why she was prescribing this and he had tested negative for any mites, I asked them to please hold off on the Nexguard for the time being. My boyfriend went in to pick up the Prednisone, and was also given and charged for the Nexguard. I called to ask why that was, and was told it was because the vet reached out to the front desk on why she prescribed it. Well, that's great, but I still had asked to hold off because I didn't know why! Come to find out, the vet mistakenly thought she had prescribed apoquel (allergy medication) already, and was using the Nexguard as a last resort since he wasn't responding to the medication that he was never given in the first place. This was incredibly frustrating to me, as I asked about the apoquel after the vet visit I couldn't be there for, and they have full access to his medical history and can see what he was and wasn't prescribed. All in all, incredibly nice staff but this has been more stressful than necessary.
