| - We came into town for the week (from Wednesday thru Sunday) for the Hot Wheels Convention. I know right! There is a convention for it, but then again that is a whole other story in itself. We were traveling with the homestead i.e. my wife along with my toddler and 6 month old. We arrived here tired and frustrated. But any who, the Bellman greeted us and helped us quickly unload the kids and car. Two kids, car travel and a week can be a logistical nightmare. They were friendly and welcoming. We were assisted to our room which had a spatial view of PNC Park and downtown Pittsburgh. The room was very accommodating with two queen beds and all the amenities we had requested for prior to making the reservation. The rooms are clean, updated and warm. The bathrooms are spacious. The staff(they all made an effort to get to know us and remember us) is excellent and do go out of their way to ensure you are having the best stay possible.
If you're running late or just want to stay in and are hungry, room service was exceptional for breakfast and any other time. The delivery was prompt and everything was fresh and cooked to perfection (be it the chocolate chip pancakes to their salads and kids meals).
On the property alone with the quality of service and staff, the rooms, I wish I could give it higher than 5 stars.
However, the area around it, even though it's in downtown Pittsburgh and is at times bustling can be quite sketchy. It reminded me of San Francisco, but there I did feel marginally safer.
If you're in town or doing a stay-cation, I cannot recommend the Hotel Fairmont enough. Thank you for providing such a memorable stay.
