  • Just had discount sprinklers at my house for an estimate. Quoted me $315 for new pvc pipe set up for my 4 valves in back yard. The old pvc was leaking and needed to be replaced. I ask how long it would take he said 2-3 hours to cut and piece together the new pvc pipe set up for 4 valves. I thought the price was high and asked why he is charging $100+ an hour if the job took 3 hours. He came back with we don't charge by the hour. But every labor job I have ever paid for has been quoted by the hour + materials. This is not my first home repair job. And pvc pipe materials are not expensive. Said he could do a referral discount and charge us $275. I asked him to break down the costs of doing the job. He refused and said that is their flat rate to do the job. He gave me his card and left in a huff. No trying to work out a deal, no compromise, and certainly no explanation of why the job was worth $100 an hour for pvc pipe work in a open back yard area. Job was done by another company for $65 out the door. Took less than an hour and works perfectly now. Trying to gouge a homeowner is not how your grow a small business. Run from this company.
