Used a Groupon for a mani-pedi. Would not go back again.
Pros:
- Customer service (Owner allowed me to book with a Groupon that would expire very soon and booked me for a time two days after it expired and was friendly.)
- Manicurist was well-intentioned.
Cons:
- Kept waiting as staff trickled in (traffic jam?)
- Hygiene/cleanliness: Pedi tubs were not lined with plastic per general hygiene standards. Nail clippings and skin filings were brushed onto the floor.
- Technique: Generally sloppy and somewhat concerning as not hygienic.
-- Insufficient callus removal.
-- Insufficient application of moisturizer during massage of feet.
-- Unevenly filed nails, despite quite a few reminders that they looked uneven -- left and right hand nails are somewhat different shapes.
-- Nails filed into a shape contrary to that requested.
-- Unevenly painted nails -- nail polish on cuticles and uneven border.
-- Nail polish was old, so went on gunky with visible brush strokes that didn't even out and bubbles.
-- Had to remind manicurist to remove remaining bits of old polish.
-- Tray of tools (post-pedi) placed unevenly on top of basket of towels, so skin filings, etc. likely on top of towels
-- Towel with nail filings on it used to pat my hands, so I got nail filings patted onto my recently moisturized hands.
- General Experience: I thought about leaving partway through the manicure because the manicurist could not file my nails evenly, despite my reminders/requests. I felt my request created tension as the manicurist seemed to be unable to take criticism, even though I asked nicely. I ended up settling for a poor polish and file job because I didn't want to seem overly picky.
Overall: As well-intentioned as the staff may be, I was uncomfortable and dissatisfied with my experience. I would not go back again, even with a Groupon.
