I was interested in visiting a new bubbletea place as I saw a couple of my friends post photos on facebook and instagram. I went with my friend and thankfully there was no lineup but quite a few tables were filled. Free wifi which is always great. The decor has a hipster, library feel which was nice for studying. It would be even better with more comfy chairs or couches but they don't have enough room for that unfortunately. The server let us pick our spots since it was quite cold and we didn't want to sit near the door. She was nice but sometimes it was hard to understand her.
There was limited food options. I was hoping there would be some noodles but I only saw rice and appetizer options. I ordered the minced pork with rice which was not that impressive , Hokkaido Milk Tea which was pretty good and my friend ordered the salt and pepper chicken and chicken nuggets. Nothing special about the nuggets and the portions were quite small for the salt and pepper chicken for the price.
I really liked that they gave out free popcorn as that is my weakness. I did ask if I could have another little bucket of popcorn and when it was brought to the table everything was fine... or so it seemed. Around the middle I tasted something a little sweet but I just disregarded it until I got near the bottom. It was a chewed up piece of GUM embedded in the popcorn and I was grossed out. Do the servers not check it before they serve it?
Not sure if I'll go back but I'll be checking the popcorn and the food before I taste it.
