| - I did the one month trial discounted through Groupon. I really liked the workouts as they are designed with women in mind (it's a women only club). Yana, the owner, and the only instructor, is very good at what she does and a true professional. The exercises are very specific and targeted and surprisingly difficult. Without Yana's encouragement (and the social pressure of everyone else being able to do these exercises) I know I would not do half of them. I knew I was accomplishing something since afterwards I would really feel the burn! However, Yana could be a bit more friendly and inviting to newbies as many of the club members know her and talk to her and new people feel a little out of place.
The exercises are for toning, stretching and strength. There are no aerobic exercises, which isn't such a bad thing as I do lots of walking and hiking. Having no men in the club was a nice change, almost empowering I would say. The club has a single large studio - very clean with glistening wood floors. The bathroom/changing room is small and only had 1 shower (I think) so pretty much no one showered there. I really liked that you pre-register online for classes - so you don't get there to find it's filled up! The online registration is simple, easy, and quick. It also encouraged you to attend if you were registered. I found you could register 5-7 days in advance and you could get pretty much any class you wanted.
So you might ask, "why only 3 stars?" If the club made the following changes I would probably join, but without these changes it's a no-go for me:
1) Yana is the only instructor, having one more instructor so that the classes can start earlier is really important as a working Mom. (Earliest class start time is 8:30AM)
2) There needs to be more classes on Saturdays and some classes offered on Sunday (only 2 classes on Saturdays and none on Sundays).
3) The unlimited price at $200/month is out of my price range and would need to come down or have another option, like 3x/week for $125 or something.
