  • Stay away from this agent. I've been with State Farm 2 years through James Madrid's office. Close friends of mine have state farm and have always talked highly of them so I made the switch. I had an incident in a parking lot to which i was surprised by when coming back out to my vehicle. Scratches on the vehicle and a dent, I couldn't say that it was another car or someone vandalizing my vehicle. When I signed up in James Madrid's office I was sold on $0 deductible on comprehensive because I was told it will cover everything other than collision (like a shopping cart, someone keying my car, etc). I called and set up a claim for the damage on my vehicle which went somewhat smoothly and was not told anything but to take my car to xyz body shop. I was never contacted and told that I would need to pay anything or that this would go under my collision coverage which has a much higher deductible. Upon picking up my car from xyz body shop I was told *surprise surprise* you need to pay the deductible for collision. Who decided this I have no clue. Also seems rather convenient considering I have been paying extra for $0 deductible under comprehensive for 2 years. Immediately after picking up my vehicle I went to James Madrid's office on Windmill/eastern to discuss this with them, change my deductibles and remove unnecessary coverage's I was told would be important. Why pay for lower deductibles on things that the insurance company can file under a higher deductible coverage, right?. Upon arrival I was upset about the way things have went down so far and I got to deal with the receptionist(?) Brittney who was mentioned in another review and her amazing attitude *sarcasm* who seemed to show no sympathy towards my situation and concerns. Because of this I let her know several times that I would be switching insurances. She was patronizing and had an attitude and tone like I was only hurting myself by adjusting my policy and considering switching insurances. She handed me papers to sign about opting out of certain coverage then she stacked them all up with all my other paperwork and handed them to me. She let me know when I was leaving that she would talk to James and he would probably be calling me with an offer to refund my deductible. This made me feel like something was going to be changed but I also felt like it was a typical process when someone isn't happy. Because of the size of the office I'm sure the other staff could hear what was going on and I got the vibe that they would all be gossiping about me when I left. This feeling is subjective so take it how you wish. So I got the call from James which went absolutely no where. He basically made it out that I was misinformed and that it was not his fault, that I didn't understand what the coverage's were and that it's typical for parking lot damage to go under collision, He was sorry that I was never called and told what coverage this would go under but there was nothing he can do about that. Basically more patronizing. It was one of his staff that sold me on getting $0 deductible coverage in the first place, at least take credit for that. Nope... Today I got to deal with Brittany again via email because she needed the papers I signed that she handed to me. Apparently she doesn't remember it that way and told me that I signed them before but I grabbed them and took them home with me. She wrote her emails with the same attitude and tone as before. I let her know that it doesn't matter if they receive these papers back or not because I would be switching insurances or at least switching agents. Her response was: "To change agents you can request it thru our corporate or online, good luck.". I almost wonder if Brittney gets this sense of entitlement from James.. Not sure. Because I'm writing this I will be sure to switch my coverage today. I would be fearful of someone in their office tampering with my policy.
