A delicious first experience at Spoon! Its classier atmosphere creates a perfect meal out for any special occasion. We were greeted and seated immediately. All the staff from the hostess to our waitress were beyond amazing. Very friendly and efficient service the entire visit.
I was warned by friends about Spoon's small portions, so I made sure to order enough to fill me up. As a vegetarian, I was disappointed to find that there were no entree options that worked with my dietary restrictions, so my options were limited to their "firsts" menu (aka the small plates). I ordered the winter salad, roasted turnips, and my favorite, the cumin crepe. Nothing special about the winter salad - just mixed greens and raw veggies that anyone can toss together. I would not recommend. The roasted turnips were surprisingly very delicious. They were tossed in honey and peppers which gave it a subtle hint of sweet and spicy. However, it was the cumin crepe that stole the show for me. If you love Indian food, this is a must try! It is a crepe stuffed with cauliflower tikka masala that's topped with a creme fraiche drizzle - so tasty and a unique addition to the menu.
If you have room after your meal, I highly recommend the waffle! If you don't have room - make room! Probably one of my favorite desserts I've tried at a fine dining restaurant (and trust me, I've had plenty - more than I'm proud to admit). It's a waffle that's loaded with a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream and marshmallow. I'm not ashamed to admit I ate more than my share but #noragrets.
