I live just a couple blocks away but this was my first time in since Station opened. It was a phenomenal meal, full stop. We sat at the bar, fairly busy evening mid-holiday season with the wait for a table approaching an hour; Amanda handled bar and dinner duties with ease. We skipped entrees and shared several small plates. Chicken liver mousse and corned beef tongue were both solid with just right combinations of flavours to be interesting and in much larger than anticipated portion sizes. The wings were crispy and nearly perfect but just a tad under-seasoned, still a solid offering though. The surprise for me was the miso poached apple. I'm not generally a fan of mixed sweet and savoury, this plate did it right. All the sweetness was from the fruit itself, no added cloying drizzle of some syrupy mess. The pickling, poaching, and tartness from the vinaigrette balanced nicely and the miso (I love miso) was subtle but clear. Between the food, the portion sizes, and the very reasonable pricing, Station is definitely on my return soon list.
