| - This review may seem unwarranted being that the Manor is now closed. However, I would still like to write something and share my story about this lovely place as well as the mark it has left on my heart. Discovering the venue's permanent discontinuation here on Yelp was disheartening, and I feel I owe such travesty some kind words, if anything.
I had my wedding here September 26, 2014. It was a Friday. Slightly overcast and unusually nice out. Quiet. It was discovered one day on a coffee run, as I was a student at Glendale Community College a few blocks up and found myself in downtown Glendale often.
The owners of the Manor - Kent and Nancy - were absolutely delightful to work with. The venue was affordable, historic, and encompasses a certain haunting aesthetic I couldn't turn away from. There are options to hold the ceremony indoors or out, and majority of the decor involved (including but not limited to: chair bows, table cloths, aisle runners, alter flowers, center pieces, and candles) were supplied with great color selection.
The Manor is a magical place. It feels distant from the Arizona desert surrounding it and has statues, gardens, and wood floors with lace curtains. It's gorgeous. Antique. Displaced from many of the 'western' venues in town. The Manor is its own planet of architecture and of detail. Looking back on the entirety of the experience, I could not have asked for anything more; especially having a partner in the military whom was absent for the planning.
Our wedding was fabulous. We are still told how fun and full of soul the night was. Everyone loved learning about the history behind the building and the feeling of going back in time. Mostly, I chose this venue because of my dear grandparents and their adoration for it. I am continually grateful to have been married here with my pearls and roses.
There is substantive chance this review will not be read or construed. That's okay. I just wanted the world to know how beautiful this place was to celebrate love and the life we find ourselves living. Thank you, Manor at Catlin Court.
