  • This is the last "Libertarian" casino in Las Vegas and the table games have the best odds in Las Vegas. This is the only Casino left in Las Vegas with real Blackjack. So the tables are usually packed. All other casinos "modify" Blackjack rules. That means they change the game. So it's not Blackjack anymore. El Cortez doesn't do this. You get to play Blackjack. I really like the layout, vintage smell of the casino, old school vibe, History, and bar here. Drink prices are reasonable. Your allowed to smoke at all the games in the entire casino and the bar. It's not sectioned out. Good. It's traditional to smoke and drink at casinos and this place stays true to those roots. Good. Harrahs in New Orleans banned smoking They instantly lost 20% in profits in quarterly and the manager was fired. While surrounding casinos gained those customers. (Look it up). So appeasing all the whiny , excuse to complain non-smoking one-time visitors has it's cost. Some things just shouldn't change because it's tradition. iHopefully El Cortez will not change n this respect. That being said, I was a little bit irked by the attitudes of the dealers telling me how to play Blackjack with cards facing down , but don't bend the cards to peek, only use one hand , pick up the cards to scrape for a hit, and put the cards under the chips to stand. On every other hand. Play how i tell you to play. In other words STUPID. Anyone can clearly tap the table and say "hit" or waive my hand and say "stay" and it's all on video regardless. You don't need the dealers griping at everyone for not doing i "their way" while your playing .. that is irritating. Just saying.
