 | - Although diminuitive in size , Brick Street Breads is chock-o'-block full of breads and pastries for a caroboholic like myself.
I go there every week and keep reaching for the walnut sourdough bread. Yes, it is a little more expensive, but there is no way that loaf is going to languish on the counter or in the fridge getting stale. Even croutons and breadcrumbs made out of its heel, elevates whatever you eat.
Their grapeskin baguette is also killer and looks so beautiful standing up in the rustic baskets that line the perimeter of the store. A six-pack of tartlettes, decorated to the nines, always makes your dinner guests lean in a little closer over dessert.
Sundays, get up quietly so as to not disturb your sweetheart, and head to the bakery for their Chelsea Buns , which are gargantuan in size and could easily feed the both of you. Buy two anyways, to avoid a kerfuffle over breakfast, and in anticipation of afternoon snacking.
The front of house staff are chipper and friendly in spite of the fact that they have probably been there since 5:30 am. Free samples abound, an end of the day croissant has been popped into my bag with a wink and a nod. I love my neighbourhood bread hookup.
