Just a great American tourist attraction that I wish more people would visit. At one point the Hoover Dam was the quintessential road trip destination for American families, but has now become the go-to joke for why tourism by Americans in America is uncool.
But that couldn't be further from the truth, as places like the Hoover Dam are really cool. Americans have no problem going to towers, bridges, churches, or other tourist attractions in other countries around the world, but scoff at those very same things in their own country.
Getting off of my soapbox, the Dam itself is worth a visit. The tour is great, the history is remarkable, and the new bridge is a fantastic addition, with spectacular views.
