I think that FanExpo would be less soul-crushing if it wasn't five conventions jammed into one. On Saturday's edition of the 2010 fest, 60,000 people showed up. I have never been in such a crowded environment. Oh wait, Fourth of July on the Esplanade in Boston. UGH. It was exhausting just trying to get up the escalator amidst the sea of bodies.
The fire department showed up and locked the doors so no one else could get in, leaving hundreds of ticket holders outside. Mind you, these were people who had already bought tickets and were standing in line. And guess what? They WERE STILL SELLING TICKETS. This event combines gaming, sci-fi, horror, comics, and anime conventions into one big room with smaller rooms accommodating panels and screenings.
Not a fun time. Go on a Friday or Sunday for some more breathing room.
