Just came back from Las Vegas over the weekend for March Madness with a group of friends. By far, the best meal I had over the weekend but also the most expensive.
Complimentary:
Trio of Duck fat fries - BBQ, Truffled, Original
(Delicious. Truffled was my favorite.)
Potato Foccacia bread
(Greasy but that's how I like it.)
Entree:
8oz American Kobe Rib Cap
(Smaller and more expensive than a bone in rib-eye but makes it up in taste. If you're gonna go to a nice restaurant might as well spend a little more on something special. Recommend the Kobe Rib Cap over the Kobe Rib "eye" but based on preference. I love fat on my steak. )
Accompaniment:
Grilled Foie Gras
(Didn't actually order it but took some off my brother's plate. It was amazing but I don't think I ever had one that wasn't.)
Sides:
Onion Rings Tomato - Dusted
(It was a bit too salty but for some reason I kept eating it)
Mac and Cheese - Truffled
(My favorite side of the meal. Recommended)
Scalloped Potatoes - Caramelized Onion & Goat Cheese
(Not a fan of goat cheese. It was bleh. Others enjoyed it a lot more than I did)
Spinach - Bacon-Creamed
(It was good but nothing special)
The the meal quality and price was what I expected from a restaurant like StripSteak. I enjoyed it very much. The waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful. I never had to wait and ask to have my cup refilled which is a big plus.
Why only 4 stars?
My friend made reservations a month in advance but when we were about to get seated our table was given to the group on the next table in order to expand and accommodate them. When we asked for another empty table, we were told they were reserved for a different group. Really? That table that was given to the other group was reserved too. I highly doubt the empty table was specifically asked for. Then after waiting ten more minutes, we were given a table in the corner next to the kitchen. Maybe we didn't look classy enough but then again you don't play hip hop in a classy restaurant. I have nothing against hip hop but you shouldn't be playing it in a restaurant like this.
