  • They called out of the blue to see if we'd had our annual service done yet, and my husband had them come out to perform it. They weren't here 10 minutes and told my husband we needed new AC/heat pump units, to the tune of $12,000.00. The units were pulling too many amps, there was excessive water in the drain pans, the coils were corroded, yada yada yada. Well, being the suspicious character that I am, I called our regular AC fix it guys to get a second opinion. Without telling them why, I just asked them to perform the usual check for leaks, etc. Absolutely clean bill of health (big surprise). I asked about the amps and they said it was well within the normal range of our units. I asked about excessive water in the drain pans, and they said there was no water in the pans at all, and the units were draining fine, no clogged lines anywhere. They said if there was excessive water it was probably due to the high humidity we'd been experiencing. And the corrosion, well it's no more than would be expected in 20 year old units and it isn't causing a problem. Gotta love those older Trane units! And the best part of all, they didn't even charge me to come out! I'd give 24/7 no stars if I could. Find another outfit and if they cold call you to perform a "tune up", hang up the phone!
