| - The only award this sad excuse for a company should be winning is least professional business.
I will start off by saying Nikki was one of the most aloof and rude people I've ever had the displeasure of entering my home. Jan was unavailable for the long overnight stay so she assigned a new girl, Meghan (who is 22) to the job. Meghan came over for our meet and greet and asked no questions whatsoever. This was off-putting but I gave her the benefit of the doubt because I liked her and she was kind. I was nervous for her, or anybody for that matter, to stay in our home watching our dogs (both under 2) for 2 weeks. Our trip was for our wedding and honeymoon in Italy.
Meghan was scheduled to come over the day we left by 11 am (which it stated on the Time to pet website). We have a camera in our home and saw that she wasn't there yet and it was 2 o'clock. We left for the airport at 10 am. By 4 o'clock we were boarding our flight to Italy with no Meghan in sight. 6 hours our dogs were left alone. We texted Meghan, Nikki and Jan (who said she would meet Meghan to explain some stuff about the dogs, never did) to no avail. At this point I am freaking out, about to board a 9 hour flight and our dogs haven't been let out or played with in 6 hours. Finally Meghan responds and says sorry I got caught up with another dog! No response from the owner, Nikki. She never thought to inform us of this? First strike.
I wrote a list of instructions for Meghan, including the passcode and keys to my parents house where she can take the dogs swimming (we have a Newfy). Throughout our trip, we checked in on the camera and almost never saw Meghan at our house, and when she was she was laying on the couch. We saw our house slowly turn into a pigsty, all the while our dogs laid around every day, bored. They began to destroy our stuff because SHE WAS NEVER THERE! She NEVER played with my dogs. She told me she was taking them swimming and I checked into the camera, they never went! I asked her why and she said bc a doctors appointment ran long. What?! Then she told me she took them for a car ride instead. I asked her a few days later if she ever took the dogs anywhere and she said no, driving with dogs in the car is a huge liability, and she took them for a walk around our house! She just told me she took them for a car ride!
Meghan began to takes hours to respond and eventually just ignored our texts. I had friended her on Instagram and saw she was active, just deliberately ignoring me and even worse, our dogs. We confronted Nikki, never answered. My fiancé noticed shredded up paper all over the floor, which Meghan never cleaned up. On one of our last nights, she sent me a photo of one of my potted plants on the ground ripped up with soil all over our rug and said "I forgot to send this to you yesterday. I let the soil sit overnight because it was wet". I don't have words. I asked her why she would leave dirt to dry into our rug and she said she tried to SWEEP IT WITH A BROOM! She told me Nikki came over and brought a vacuum from home because ours "was broken and smoking". How convenient, I've had the vacuum for 5 months and all of the sudden it's broken when she uses it. Meghan then blocked me on Instagram and her phone so I couldn't message her or see when she was active. How professional.
Fast forward to when we arrive home. Our house is absolutely filthy. My large dog ate soil out of our plants out of boredom and there was dried dirt slobber on window ledges, furniture and our walls that she couldn't be bothered to clean. Dust and hair balls were everywhere. Coffee rings on almost every flat surface. Our faucet, which has a porcelain "hot" label, was broken off. The icing on the cake was when my fiancé got a glass out of the kitchen cabinet and found a garbage bag stuffed with our house blueprints, ripped up, hidden in the corner. WTF?! We messaged them COUNTLESS amounts of time. No response! The notepad I left for Meghan, which contained the addresses for our wedding guests for thank you cards, was gone. We tried for DAYS to get ahold of them. My husband called the company today and Nikki answered and said our dog ripped up the notebook and that was that. I have never met such a miserable, unprofessional woman in MY LIFE. They are not equipped, or trained well enough for that matter, to handle such a long overnight visit. We live in a beautiful house in Gates Mills and our house was treated like a mobile home or even worse, a hotel. The worst part of all is we never once even got anything close to an apology. Nikki should be ashamed of herself and her employees. I would have told all of my friends, families and neighbors about her company too had they done a good job or even handled the situation with more care and professionalism, but she didn't. Did I mention we paid $1300 and she charged us the Friday before the service even started? Never got an apology for that either. We worried about our dogs from start to finish.
