I am going to make a rude stereotypical statement. The Three Stooges, Gangster movies and mobsters seem to be strangely interesting to most men I know.
With that, off we go to visit the Mob Museum in Las Vegas. The museum is in the old courthouse and it is a really pretty building and it makes me happy to see some of the Las Vegas architecture saved and reused and not blown up and raised.
The tour covers the three floors of the building. You ride up in the original elevator to the third floor to start the tour. There are lots of photos, videos, displays and some great photo opportunities. You might have to wait a bit for visitors to clear out but a photo in the suspect line-up is a great keep sake. Just know that the people in the line up can not hear or see you....so yelling at them to scoot over is a waste of time.
You can take an hour or three hours to visit the museum. There are lots of displays to read and videos to watch....so you can determine how long it takes by how long you take.
Looking for a place to have a drink or something to eat before or after your visit? Half a block down on 3rd street (walk straight out of the building down 3rd st) is the Mob Bar. The Mob Bar and Triple George are connected. We ate a late lunch in the Mob Bar and really enjoyed it.
So, looking for something to do that really ties in with your visit to Las Vegas - make plans to visit the Mob Museum.
Here is a suggestion - make it a mob day. Lunch at the Mob Bar, visit the Mob Museum, and dinner at Capos. Dress in black and find a couple of felt hats.
There is parking next door for $5.
There is a parking garage on 3rd street and if you visit the Mob Bar - they will validate your parking ticket.
