| - My husband is Chinese, and his father read in a local Chinese paper about this new hotel/casino just off the Strip. He, and the other 6 of us, wanted an authentic Chinese meal so we decided to try it out and check out the casino and hotel.
When you exit the elevator, you can see a couple of restaurants across the way, and the casino on the floor below. We went down to the casino and got player cards. The staff were very welcoming, and we all felt the good vibe. A Casino Host, Angelina Tian, presented her card, and warmly welcomed us, and said she'd be happy to show us around. We mentioned dining and she recommended Pearl Ocean for Dim Sum and a full menu.
We went back upstairs and had a really good meal, and exceptional and friendly service. After, some of us went to gamble in the beautiful, intimate casino, while Angelina took the rest on a tour of the hotel. I love the hotel, casino, and a wonderful staff. I know this is a soft opening, and truly hope that what I experienced does not change going forward, as I am definitely coming back.
Living in Los Angeles, I began visiting Las Vegas at 18, so I've been going there for 56 years. I loved staying at the Dunes Hotel; small compared to most hotels today, great restaurants, going to shows everywhere. Staff were friendly and happy. In those days, only the casinos had to make a profit, so rooms, food, shows were all relatively inexpensive. Howard Hughes changed all that, and now Vegas holds no real appeal to me.
That changed this trip, and I now have a new destination spot all picked out. I think I am going to enjoy gambling again! I cannot more highly recommend this hotel/casino. The beauty, ambiance intimacy, and staff (especially), made this a great experience.
