| - Not even sure where to begin... This was definitely not a great experience. First, I just stopped in on a whim. Normally I go somewhere else but they were booked up and I had a little extra time so I thought I would try it. Big mistake.
I told the owner I only had an hour and she told me that would be more than enough time. So she starts on the manicure first. She pulls a dirty blue box out from under the table and pulls out her manicure tools. She lays them on a towel and squirts some clear liquid on them- I'm assuming alcohol? But, they barely get damp and most of it ended up on the towel. Then, she does the manicure but at no point does she use cuticle oil or remover or anything. She just soaks my fingers in water and then starts scraping the cuticles which as very uncomfortable. I had also mentioned to her that I was struggling with thin, peeling nails. Not sure if she didn't understand what I was saying but, she took the rough side of the buffer and scrubbed the heck out of my nails which I'm thinking can't be great for weak nails. She did do a mini massage but, start to finish, the manicure was less than 15 minutes.
I then go to the pedicure chairs where I sit with my feet in lukewarm- eventually cold water for 20 minutes. Another lady comes to do the pedicure and asks me what type of pedicure I want - I tell her I had surgery on my leg so I don't want any type of scrub, just a basic pedicure. She pulls out what appears to be a single use pedicure kit in a plastic bag which made me feel a little better than how the manicure tools were handled. But then, again, no cuticle remover, just soap squirted on my toes before the cuticle scraping started. After the toes were cleaned up, she takes out this blue gel and squirts it all over my legs and then begins to massage. Unfortunately, the blue gel was a scrub... Exactly what I had specifically asked her not to use. Thankfully, everything was going so quickly, the scrub part only lasted a minute or two.
After that, she did set a timer to make sure the massage reached a minimum amount of time. The massage was fine. She then goes to paint my nails and this was so odd... She takes the base coat and puts a tiny drop on the tip of each of my nails. She did not paint the entire nail with base coat... Seriously, just put a tiny drop on the tip of each nail. So peculiar!
Anyway, I was definitely in and out in less than an hour which included 20 minutes of sitting in the pedicure chair waiting. However, I definitely don't think I would be back. I have had regular manicures for years and my regular place takes the manicure tools out of a sealed package which contained sterilized tools. This was my biggest complaint... It just seemed so unsanitary to take tools out of the dirty box and squirt a little alcohol on them but to not even really get the alcohol on the area of the tool that will be touching the customer.
