  • Someone wrote on Facebook that this place is like a dental spa - I totally agree! This is the best dental experience I have ever had, hands down. Every single person here, from Cheryl up front, to the dental assistant (sorry, forgot her name), to Dr. Barela, were incredible. It's very rare that every single person in an office is that friendly and kind - the whole place has a real family feel, in contrast to those large chains / multi-dentist offices that move you through like cattle. After arriving in the front lobby, I overheard a patient, who was leaving and was paying his bill for a cavity filling, thanking Dr. Barela for a "very pleasant experience" - I think that might be a first for me, but I ended up doing the exact same thing about an hour later. I came in because I had a bad experience at a different dentist (Bright Now Dental) this last May. In contrast, Dr. Barela make me feel very comfortable, and really took his time inspecting my teeth and X-rays - it was obvious that he was being very thorough. He found one broken tooth he suggested filling and to explain why to me, took a picture of it to show me (another first). The whole process of getting the filling, from the shot to the drilling to the actual filling, was the smoothest experience I've ever had. Absolutely no pain. They have these little TV's on the ceiling, so you can watch movies - but the most important thing for me was the atmosphere during the procedure, almost one of serenity, and the way everything was explained to me as he and his assistant worked, making me feel comfortable and reassured. I should mention that the dentist I left from Bright Now Dental, whom I saw in May, said I had 5 cavities and needed a crown, after about taking all of 5 seconds to look at my mouth, and said all were "urgent". In contrast, Dr. Barela took his time and did not try to sell me on any treatments - he mentioned that while at some point I may have to replace my silver fillings, it was premature to do so now. I liked this office so much, and this was AFTER having a cavity filled, that I actually tried to persuade him to do the work now, but he said waiting was better. It's pretty rare that a dentist is this honest - I only wish I discovered them sooner!!!
