| - Was looking for a classic Pilates studio on a recent visit to Scottsdale. I ended up here, and boy, do I regret it. What a waste of money and time!
The equipment is spiffy and the place is clean, but those are the only positives about SPY. This is NOT a classic Pilates studio, as stated on their website. It is cardio.
I was dismayed that they had misled me, but decided to stay. When the class of 4 started, the teacher, Jen, ignored me. She was busy chatting with the three other students with whom she clearly had a social relationship. She did not help me while I struggled with unfamiliar moves. She did not help me when I asked for help. She didn't offer any instruction at all. The other students were equally unfriendly. Clearly, I was not welcome there. I'm not sure any out-of-towner would be.
After about twenty minutes of no instruction and negative attitude, I left the class. There was no reason to stay. As I was changing, I heard Jen say to the other women "yeah, we get a lot of those," referring to me. In addition to being incompetent, they are rude.
I have been to Pilates studios all over the USA. I have never had a more negative experience than I did here. Unprofessional, unfriendly, no instruction or guidance. Stay away from SPY. Scottsdale is full of Pilates studios. Go somewhere else. I will.
