  • I've been here when it's busy and I've been here when I was the only customer. It's always great, the donuts are always hot, but in my experience, It's way better when it's not busy. Maybe you're the decisive type and you already know what you are going to order. But there are so many different donuts here, it takes me a while to make up my mind. Usually I hate menus with too many choices. Not here. I am totally into this menu. They have a long list of donuts to choose from, or you can design your own. Designing my own is way too much responsibility for me. I prefer to choose from the menu. My last visit I started with the Carnival and the Blueberry, and both were fantastic. Then I went back in and tried a Bacon Bomb. That Bacon Bomb blew my mind. For months now I've dreamed of the day when I could sink my teeth into another one of those beauties. And, Saints be praised, that day came last week. I showed up around 12:45 and was happy to discover I was the only customer. After being warmly greeted by Alyssa and Chelsea, they expertly guided me through the menu. I knew for sure I was getting a Bacon Bomb. I needed a second choice. I went round and round with those girls. They were super patient with me. They answered all my questions with a smile, and explained the whole process. While I was still fine tuning my order, Chelsea went back and dropped two donuts in the fryer. When she came back, Chelsea told be about a new donut they were featuring, the Lemon Bar. Well, I'm a lemon bar fiend, don't you know, so I was all ears. Alyssa echoed Chelsea's recommendation. That's all I needed. I ordered one up. Last time I visited I brought my own milk because I wasn't sure if they sold it here. Well, they do, and it's terrific. And cold. It's got to be cold, right? Well, it's cold! So, I got my donuts and milk and made my way to my car. I needed to be alone. Not because I was worried someone would try to steal my donuts. No way anyone's getting one of these donuts away from me. But I locked the car doors just in case. Again, the Bacon Bomb was the star of the show. So. Freaking. Good! The Bacon Bomb confounds me. I mean, maple is never my first choice in a donut shop. And I love bacon, but I keep it the hell away from the maple syrup when I'm having a pancake breakfast. Nevertheless, I love the combination in donut form. The Lemon Bar was exactly the way Chelsea described it. It tastes just like a really good lemon bar. It was the perfect second donut, a really nice counterpoint to the maple-y Bacon Bomb. The Lemon Bar is tart, and sweet, but not overly so. It was totally delicious. Without question those are the two donuts I'm starting with next time I visit. Pity it won't be until at least October. Mikey C says: is it October yet?
